NaNoWriMo.org
Quote: In 2003, we had about 25,000 participants. Over 3500 of them crossed the 50k finish line by the midnight deadline, entering into the annals of NaNoWriMo superstardom forever. They started the month as auto mechanics, out-of-work actors, and middle school English teachers. They walked away novelists.
Sounds like fun.
I ran across this interesting site because it was listed in my library's monthly brochure of upcoming programs. On October 25th, they're hosting a kickoff to this event with advice from former participants. Hmm, I've always wanted to write a novel. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Anyone else out there interested? If so, sign ups begin on October 1st, 2004. What are you waiting for? I've given the URL twice already, but just in case, here it is again: http://www.nanowrimo.org/.

G'day Ma'am,
All the best if you have a crack at nAnOwrImO. Doesn't sound like half a challenge, aye. Not something I could do, though, I don't think I have read a novel for 30 - 40 years, as non-fictitious as I am. Maybe they can do a NaNoFiWriMo and get people to do a 50K dissertation on some obscure thingywot. Hmmm... as to a topic for me?... Ummmm, lets go with "Do snakes want to come inside, like ants, with the prospect of rain?" (mental note: don't even think about mentioning that idea to my wife!)
I wonder how they regulate NaNoWriMo? 'Spose they have to take a persons word for it, that they wrote the novel during the alloted period and didn't get a running start the month, or year, before. I am such a skeptic, dang it drives me nuts.
Hey, here is an interesting blog ... quite unique. Geo Huth has quite a few blogs going - very interesting if you are into both drawn images and poetry, of the alternative kind. A bit woerd actually but worth a look.

Check out his thing on MailArt too.
Nice to see your face, and your daughter's, on the post below. You seem to relate well enough and good for you both.

LoL, hey Peter. Thanks for stopping by. I wondered that about the novel in 30-days, too - how they know if you went by the rules or not. I guess they really don't. It's up to the writers to be honest about it. To me, it would lose it's sense of accomplishment if I cheated at it. But I'm sure some probably don't care.
As far as snakes & ants in the house - I wouldn't like them either, so I don't blame the wife on that one...lol.
My daughter and I do relate well. Thanks for noticing.
Catch you soon,
Tracie
